Empowering Women The Zuri Way!
In celebration of the 100th International Women’s Day,
and in deference to this year's theme of 'Equal rights, equal
opportunities; Progress for all', the Zuri Whitefield pulled out
all stops to help contribute to the empowerment of lesser privileged
women dwelling in slums. The luxury business hotel located in
Whitefield, in association with the Center for Social Action,
Christ University, Bangalore, hosted a charity luncheon to raise
funds for Project 3D. The luncheon was preceded by a special screening
of a French film ‘Camille Claudel’ based on the life
and times of the famous 19th century French sculptor and artist
Camille Claudel and her triumph over adversity.
The tickets were priced at Rs.1100 per invitee, and the entire
proceeds of the special lunch was donated towards helping the
women's cause, as the Zuri Whitefield had generously extended
all support towards conducting this event at the hotel. The luncheon
at the Zuri Whitefield provided a great way to include a wider
audience to contribute towards empowering the lesser privileged
and surely helped in making a big difference.
Zuri's bond with the International Women's Day runs deeper than
one may notice. This year's theme colour being Purple reflects
Zuri owns brand colours and perfectly echoed the hotel's brand
image which reflects a female characteristic in its essence.
About 3D:

- Project 3D works in the slums of Janakiramnagar which is close
to Lingarajapuram, to improve the economic situation of residents
by focussing on vocational skill training for women in that area.

business units among 600 women over a period of five years and

Taste the Bengal in Bangalore!
September 21st - September 30th, 2009
Ah! Kolkata! When was the last time you took a tour of this iconic
city? Or rather, have you ever!? Well if you haven’t yet,
everyone who ever has will lose no time in describing the romance
of the endearing eccentricities that make Kolkata so unique. Whether
it’s the ubiquitous cycle rickshaws or the good ol’
tram, the football frenzy, the delicious variety of ‘fishy’
dishes, the yellow taxis, the iconic Howrah Bridge, Victoria Memorial
and so much more.
If you’ve been smitten by the Bengal bug already, fret not.
For now you’ll have the pleasure of experiencing the best
of Bengal right here in Bangalore! And as always, it’s The
Zuri Whitefield that makes it possible. While Bangaloreans flocked
in hordes to the Kerala Food Festival at this trendy luxury hotel
during Onam, it is now time for The Bengal Food Festival. This
time the endearing five star hotel has conceptualised the recreation
of the Kolkata street ambience in celebration of the Durga Pooja
festivities from the 21st to the 30th of this month.
As we have now come to expect from The Zuri, The Bengal Food Festival
promises to be nothing short of a truly memorable experience.
The venue of course will be Kahwa, the inviting all-day-dining
multi-cuisine restaurant set at the hotel lobby level. The restaurant
though will be a whole lot different from the decor that we have
come to know it for, transforming itself into a virtual mini Kolkata
street. Adding to the ambience will be carvings and images of
landmarks like the Howrah Bridge and Victoria Memorial, with real
rickshaws jostling for space between depictions of the tram and
taxis among many other things.
The highlight as always will be the delicious variety of Bengali
delicacies! And for this The Zuri is also making special arrangements
to fly in a fresh catch of hilsa, rahu, katla and bekti along
with the chef right from the heart of the Bengali mainland! The
sumptuous lunch and dinner buffets will be priced at Rs.550 and
Rs.800 respectively. Diners can partake in the festivities with
soothing Rabindra Sangeet, enjoy the melodious dance of the Rabindra
Nritika and savour an unending variety of treats right from jhal
muri, beguni, chanachur to posto, paaturi, muri ghonto, boris,
street side rolls and chops to a quick phucka popping.
There’s no doubting the fact that this all-Bengali affair
will see The Zuri flocked with diners all day long. Because, just
short of being in Bengal itself, there hardly seems to be a better
way to taste the best of everything Bengal right here in Bangalore.
Shagotom everyone, let the festivities begin! |
